About Robby

As a young boy Robby dreamed of playing the banjo. One Christmas morning he opened up a music case and found his first guitar. Charlie, Robby’s brother, started Robby along with other neighborhood kids on the path of guitar playing. In the early days, Robby learned to read music from "Workshop Paul" at the "Guitar Workshop" in Tucson Arizona. Robby's biggest influences, aside from Charlie, came from other local guitar players such as Andy Hihouse, Bill Sinclair, Gary Sinclair, Fred Ariaga and Brett Canfield. Charlie and Robby played several years together in a band called "Roc Lochner". Charlie didn't want music as a career and stepped aside and in came neighborhood friend Vic Visco. Tragically, a year later Vic was killed in an auto accident.

Before Roc Lochner had broken up they had their song,"Wings of the Nite", featured on the "Tune Up" CD from Billboard's Album Network. They were picked as one of the top 15 un-signed bands in the country. They also received write ups in Hits Magazine. Robby also won "Arizona's Best Guitarist/Performer" two years in a row for Arizona Music Scene Magazine. Robby worked on the Showtime movie the "Kid" with Brian Austin Green as the "Guitar Technical Advisor" and filmed hand shots.

Soon after Robby, the great, great, great grandson of Robert Schumann (1800's Classical Composer) was selected to play guitar for the Z-Rock "Killing Crew". Z-Rock was a nationally syndicated radio station based out of TX. The band was based in Phx.AZ. With guys from Boston (Bobby Gromily drums), Chicago (Jack Lazor vocals), Phx (Chris Connely bass), and Robby from Tucson. Within a year Z-rock was going belly up...so, Robby moved to California.

Robby landed in Torrance where he met Razor Rey DeCarlo (DJ for the KNAC) formally from Tucson. Razor began having Robby play live on his shifts and soon dubbed Robby the "Shred Master General". Razor suggested Robby send a promo pack to E.M.A.S. Rob Halford's (Judas Priest) management service. Within a year Robby had been handpicked by Rob Halford to complete the "War of Words" tour for his band "Fight". After Fight, Robby played for a popular L.A. band called Treason. Treason featured the vocal and keyboard talent of Magic Moreno (Eric Clapton, Barbara Streisand, Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, David Lee Roth, and Michael Jackson) and double bass monster Glenn Noize. Simultaneously, Robby was recording his first solo release which featured the bass talents of Barry Sparks (Ted Nugent, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, UFO, Yngwie Malmsteen, Scorpions) and an assortment of vocal talent including Neil Turbin (Anthrax).

During that time, Robby had a track featured on L.A.'s "Best Undiscovered Guitarists Compilation CD". He also won Music Scene Internationals "Best of the Best/Best Rock Guitarist" award and the L.A. Music Awards "Best Performance Guitar". Robby then performed at the L.A. Music Awards with the "Legends All Star Band" featuring Spencer Davis, Alex Ligertwood (Santana), and Carmine Appice (Rod Stuart, Vanilla Fudge, Blue Murder).

While playing in Treason Robby met Bernie Corrigan who was managing the band and they became immediate friends. The first night they met Robby discovered that Bernie was actually a musician and plans were made to form a band. The band became known as Gillian's Crush. http//:www.gillianscrush.com While in Gillian's Crush Robby and Bernie worked with two number one hit song writers, Jake Hooker (I love Rock n Roll ,performed by Joan Jett) and Curt Cuomo (Phyco Circus ,Kiss). Gillian's Crush had an assortment of rhythm sections having had guys who had played with Robbie Krieger, Berlin, Rick Springfield, Peter Gabriel, Meredith Brooks, Lita Ford and Ronnie Montrose. The band was heavily corted but was so tied up in a bad contract with the producers that the only way out was to disband. During this time Robby demoed tracks for Eddie Money for his "Ever Ready Eddie" release.

Robby moved to the O.C. where he built his own studio and began working on another solo release. Robby ended up teaching at the now de-funked "Mars Music" where he did many performances on their stage. He opened up for and played with George Lynch (Lynch Mob) and also played with Stuttering John (Howard Stern and Jay Leno). At this time Robby hooked up with Joey Felix, a long time friend and cousin to Razor Rey DeCarlo, and joined Joey's band "Dig Jelly".

Currently, Dig Jelly has just released there 2nd CD "ParaNoize", which was recorded and produced on Robby's protools HD3 home studio. Dig Jelly was signed and has done national tours having opened for "Veruca Salt" and Interscope's "Love Makers". Because Dig Jelly's former label's CEO was a complete moron with absolutely no business or musical sense what so ever Dig Jelly took an option in their contract to get out and is currently independent. Dig Jelly regularly performs thru CA. AZ. and NV. Robby has just released his second solo release which features Robby on all vocals, guitars, writing (except 2 songs co-write with Bernie Corrigan) producing and track engineering. The hard edged CD has a variety of songs and features Joey Felix (Dig Jelly) on drums (except one track, Gunter Fliszar A.K.A. Dikkie (Bruce Dickenson, Decca Tree) and Javy Bojorquez bass (Joan Sebastion).

Robby is currently working with Bernie Corrigan on two new projects (details coming soon). You can expect new CDs from Dig Jelly, Bernie and Robby, and Robby solo.
